about

Things Five is an experiment in form. Serialism is a method of composing that uses a series of varying music elements. In Things Five, I have used a list of five musical characteristics to create music of a unique style.

This type of experimentation can lead to music that opens up new territory and new sonic worlds.

In the five Water Dances pieces, I was inspired by the way rain splashed up from a hard surface when it hit. The visual effect made it look like it was water dancing. The sound of the vibraphone and piano has always made me think of water play, combined with the silky smooth sound of the oboe, these happy short pieces are waiting for someone to choreograph dance movements to them.
